Indonesia-
Nationally , floods and landslides from 2013 until early 2014 increased 300 percent when compared to 2012 . In 2012 , the number of floods and landslides was 475 , and in 2013 until the beginning of 2014 reached 1,392 .
" These numbers are not messing around . Highly dangerous if not dealt with quickly , " said Disaster Manager Disaster Environment Forum ( Walhi ) National , Mukri Friatna , at Warung Daun Cikini , Central Jakarta (Saturday , 18/1 ) .
Environmental organizations ( WALHI ) requesting a concrete explanation of why the government forest reduced from 160 million hectares to 57 million hectares . This means that Indonesia has been increasingly deficient water reservoir that can hold rainwater .
Floods landslides , Mukri said , is a natural sign is damaged . Manado , is an example where the water reservoir has been much reduced when flanked by two very large rivers .
" So do not blame God sent down rain . Blames why a shelter or a bowl of water in the country is reduced . Development is everywhere apparent cause flooding , " said Mukri .(ysa/MN)
