JAKARTA - Oil Mafia is the rentier who have proximity and influence of the high officials in making decisions that affect not optimal production and management of oil and gas, causing economic inefficiencies and high costs of this happened because of lack of accountability, complicated procedures, regulatory weaknesses and also problem- issues relating to the integrity of the managers, concludes Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said in a press conference on Sunday (11/16/2014).
To improve good governance of oil and the interests of the government of Indonesia has formed a team of Oil and Gas Governance Reform chaired by Prof. Dr, Faisal Basri., SE., MA, senior economist. The team will work to improve existing systems and institutions. "We do not accuse people per person but this is a systemic problem, some of the things that cause this to happen, we feel equally, that is why the Government did not build refineries, because there are processes that influence each other, we feel why we import continuously since there are these problems, "said the Minister.
"The problems that arise in the management of oil and gas there is also a tendency caused by the conduct or behavior of the rentier, for example, many holders of the working area that is not done properly, then many business processes behind the screen or table it should be our transparent finish, "said the Minister.
In connection with the mismanagement of oil and gas fuel , according to the Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team, Faisal Basri said to be very dangerous and can destroy a country, where the resource is no longer a blessing but became a disaster. "The power of democracy was never destroyed because it does not have enough power or not supported by adequate resources, but can collapse due to wrong directing abusing its power and its resources," said Faisal.
"We hope that with this reform team, from the curse could be a blessing," said Faisal.
And Faisal warned, the blessing is produced through a process that is both the beginning of the good intentions, the good God willing, will produce good results, there is no good results if the process is not well
